An inspiring visit to the Dr. M.L. Dhawale Memorial Complex
Today our sub team spent the morning at the Dr. M.L. Dhawale
Memorial.
Dr Piyush Patel who has been working with us this past month
on our project used to teach at their Medical College and took us to meet their
board members and installations.
Established in 1987, Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Trust (MLDT)
mission’s is “To achieve excellence in integrated holistic medical care, education,
research & extension services through homoeopathy and allied disciplines in
order to promote positive health in the individual and in the community in a
cost effective manner”.
The complex is extremely well maintained and holds a
hospital and a Medicine College. The hospital works as a teaching hospital and
students learn from their 1st year how it is to work on the field.
The hospital is designed to attend the population from rural
areas at a very low cost or no cost but maintaining the excellence on the
service provided. It works a NGO and it’s basically maintained on donations.
To be able to experience and talk to so many passionate
people who dedicate some of their time, which for me is the most valuable thing
you can give is just fascinating!
We heard a lot of successful stories and were able to
explain a bit about the CSC program and how IBM is focused on working for the
communities too.
We also left some homework and hope to see their new social
media pages up soon so I can share their amazing work with you all!
During our meeting with Dr Hema Parikh and Dr Purohit I
heard something I brought with me: “We want to help create human doctors,
professionals who are devoted to one another”. This way of thinking is
visionary and certainly helps the world to be a better place.
